Charles Di Leva
Charles Di Leva is a global authority on environmental and social standards and development finance. He recently retired from the World Bank where he led the launch of the Environmental and Social Framework while serving as the Bank’s Chief Officer, Environmental and Social Standards. Prior to that, he was the Bank’s Chief Counsel, Environmental and International Law, leading a practice group responsible for environmental and social compliance in projects across the Bank’s regions. His responsibilities involved advising Senior Management on complex infrastructure projects, particularly in relation to their compliance with environmental and social standards and domestic law. Charles is now advising international development institutions on issues related to environmental and social compliance, climate finance and governance, and accountability and dispute resolution mechanisms. He is also a Partner with Sustainability Frameworks, LLP, and Adjunct Professor at American University Washington College of Law
