Maria Amparo Allbán
Maria Amparo Alban has more than 25 years’ experience in international trade and sustainable development, particularly environmental compliance. Maria has worked in a number of countries and has served as an advisor to Ecuador’s Trade Ministers, Ministry of Environment, among other. She is a founding partner of the Inter-American Institute for Justice and Sustainability (IIJS). Nominated in 2018, by the President of Ecuador in the triad for the position of Attorney General. She is also the founder, former President, and executive director of the Ecuadorian Center on Environmental Law. Maria is an independent board member at SolGold Plc and a member of the Jurisdictional Approach Working Group of the Round Table for Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). She is a professor of environmental law at the Universidad de los Hemisferios (UDLH) and is currently working on compliance as a practitioner and academic. A lawyer by background, with expertise aimed at the integration of the economic, environmental and social components in policymaking for conservation and climate change.
