Ricardo Luis Lorenzetti
Argentinian judge with a long and awarded national and international career. He served as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Argentina from 2007-2018, and he is currently one of the five justices of the Supreme Court. During his presidency, the Court prioritized judicial transparency, accountabiliy and established the gender protection office. Since 2020, Lorenzetti has been serving as an Ex-Officio and Institutional Board Member for the Inter-American on Justice and Sustainability (IIJS). He is also founding member of the Global Judicial Institute on the Environment and a member of its Governing Committee. Justice Lorenzetti is the President of the International Advisory Council for the Advancement of Justice, Governance and Law for Environment Sustainability of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and member of Environmental Commission of the Ibero-American Judicial Summit.
Director of the Environmental Law Specialization, University of Buenos Aires, and of the specialization in civil responsibility of the University of Buenos Aires. Recognized by the Institute "Law for a Green Planet" of Brazil, for his work in environmental law. Venera "Ius Ambiens-Lumen Orbis", awarded by the World League of Environmental Lawyers in Mexico. Received the "Academic Merit" Distinction from National Autonomous University of Mexico, Faculty of Law, for his transcendental contributions to the development of environmental law. Author of a number of books and articles on environmental matters. His latest book "Environmental Law" has been published in Argentina, United States, Spain, Italy, Colombia, Mexico, Paraguay, Panama.
