Justice Benjamin is the Chair ofthe International Union for the Conservation of Nature (UICN)World Commission on Environmental Law, and an OAS Goodwill Ambassador for Environmental Justice. He was recently sworn in as Director of the National Judicial School of Brazil. He served as Assistant Attorney General of the Brazilian State of Sao Paulo for 20 years and served as head of the Environmental Protection Division for several years. Justice Benjamin was the founding President of both the Brazilian Consumer Law and Policy Institute and the Law for a Green Planet Institute, and is also a member of the UN Secretary General Expert Group on Crimes against the Environment and Secretary General of the International Advisory Council for Environmental Justice of UN Environment. He is a member of the Interim Governing Committee of the Global Judicial Institute on the Environment.
