Juan Carlos Fernández, Board Member
Attorney specialized in international trade. Currently serves as Executive Director of the Central American Sugar Association – (AICA), based in Guatemala City. Previously, worked as a consultant in CA Trade Consulting Group and served as Executive Director of the Central American Economic Integration Secretariat - SIECA. Fernández, has held various relevant positions in the Ministry of Economy of El Salvador, having served as Director of Trade Policy, Minister Counselor of the Representation of El Salvador to the World Trade Organization - WTO, Deputy Director of Trade Policy and negotiator responsible of trade regulations. He has been actively involved in the negotiations and implementation of the free trade agreements signed by El Salvador with the United States, Panama, Chile, Taiwan and Colombia, and in the negotiations of the Association Agreement between Central America and the European Union.In the Central American context, Fernández, has been active in the negotiations for the establishment of the custom union and the implementation of measures to facilitate regional trade. At the multilateral level he participated in the Doha Round negotiations.
