Ricardo Saucedo Borenstein, Associate Expert
Ricardo Saucedo Borenstein is a Lawyer as well as an associate expert of IIJS, he completed his university studies at the Private University of Santa Cruz, is a founder of the Bolivian Society of Environmental Law, and holds a master's degree in Engineering and Environmental Management. He has participated in numerous consultancies related to the development of legislation and policies for natural resource management both within and outside his country. He is also a member of the World Commission on Environmental Law of the IUCN and the OAS's Group of Specialists in Environmental Law. He has served as the Secretary of Sustainable Development for the Government of Santa Cruz, and as an environmental advisor for several municipal governments in the country. He has also published various articles and manuals on environmental issues. Dr. Saucedo also has knowledge in criminology and nearly two decades of experience in designing judicial training activities, having been the Director of the Environmental Law Training Program for judges and prosecutors (PROCADA), focused on training judges and prosecutors in legislation and general principles governing environmental law with the goal of strengthening the judicial system in resolving environmental crimes. He also advised on the design of the Inter-American Judicial Training Program on Environmental Rule of Law and, within the framework of the IUCN's World Commission on Environmental Law, he has participated in numerous conferences aimed at judges on environmental matters, including those of the World Congress on Environmental Law in 2016 (Rio de Janeiro).
